Biofertizers are ready to use live formulations of beneficial microorganisms, which on application to seed or soil mobilize the availability of nutrients by their microbial activity and help in building up the micro flora and thus soil health.
SIMA CD & RA established a full-fledged Biofertilizer Production Plant at a cost of Rs.35 lakhs during 1992-93. The Biofertilizers viz., Azospirillum, Phosphobacteria and Rhizobium thus produced are distributed as a value addition along with seeds.
Benefits of using Biofertizers
• Cost effective, increase the crop yield by 10-30%
• Supplement to fertilizers, replace chemical fertilizer up to 25%
• Stimulate plant growth
• Restore the natural fertility
• Provide protection against some soil borne diseases.
The following quantities were distributed to farmers towards cotton, vegetable crops, Sugarcane and coconut by us.
